Domain Whois
Free online domain Whois lookup tool, RDAP registration info
What is Whois?
Whois is a query and response protocol used to look up information about domain name registrations. It returns details such as the registrar, registration and expiration dates, name servers, and domain status codes. This tool uses RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol), the modern successor to Whois.
How to Look Up Domain Information
Enter a domain name (e.g. example.com) and click Lookup. The tool queries the RDAP database and displays registration details. Information includes the registrar company, creation and expiration dates, name servers, and domain status flags.
▶Why do some domains show limited information?
Due to privacy regulations (GDPR), many registrars now redact personal information from domain registrations. Some domains use privacy protection services to hide the registrant's details.
▶What is RDAP?
RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the modern replacement for the Whois protocol. It provides structured JSON responses and is required by ICANN for all generic top-level domains (gTLDs).
▶Can I find out who owns a domain?
Registrant contact information may be available if the owner has not opted for privacy protection. Due to GDPR and other privacy laws, personal details are often redacted.
