About Salary Compare
This is a reference table of approximate annual software-engineering salary ranges (in USD) across seven world regions and four seniority levels (Junior, Mid, Senior, Lead). It is a read-only comparison view, not a calculator — there are no inputs. The numbers are rough estimates drawn from publicly available salary surveys and vary by city, company, and source.
How to Use
1. Open the tool; the Salary Comparison by Region table loads with all seven regions populated. 2. Read each row to compare Junior / Mid / Senior / Lead ranges for a region (for example United States: $55k-$80k junior up to $160k-$220k lead). 3. Scroll to the Visual Comparison card for a per-region card layout colored by seniority (green → lime → yellow → orange heat scale). 4. Always read the amber disclaimer box — these figures are indicative, not authoritative.
Regions and Seniority Heat Scale
The seven regions are: United States, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, China, Japan, India, Southeast Asia. Seniority columns are colored from green (junior, lowest band) through lime and yellow to orange (lead, highest band). Ranges are wide on purpose (e.g. India junior $5k-$12k, US lead $160k-$220k) because compensation varies dramatically by city, company tier, and specialty.
