The calculator uses a greedy algorithm to find the minimum number of notes and coins.

CNY (Chinese Yuan), USD (US Dollar), EUR (Euro), JPY (Japanese Yen), GBP (British Pound), KRW (South Korean Won), HKD (Hong Kong Dollar), TWD (New Taiwan Dollar), THB (Thai Baht), VND (Vietnamese Dong), INR (Indian Rupee), RUB (Russian Ruble).
▶What algorithm does it use?
It uses a greedy algorithm that always takes the largest denomination first. For standard currency systems (which are canonical), this produces the optimal minimum-piece result.
▶Can I add custom denominations?
Currently 12 major currencies are supported. If you need a different currency, feel free to submit a feature request.
▶Does it handle decimal amounts?
Yes. The calculator handles decimal amounts correctly for currencies that use cents/sen/fen (like USD, EUR) and integer-only currencies (like JPY, KRW).
▶Is the exchange rate considered?
No. This tool only breaks down amounts within a single currency. It does not convert between currencies.
