What is EXIF Data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data is metadata embedded in photos by digital cameras and smartphones. It includes camera make and model, exposure settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO), date and time taken, GPS coordinates, and image dimensions.
How to View EXIF Data
Upload a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or TIFF photo. The tool extracts and displays all available EXIF data organized by category: camera info, exposure settings, date, and GPS location.
▶Do all images have EXIF data?
No. Social media platforms typically strip EXIF data from uploaded images for privacy. Screenshots also usually lack EXIF data. Original photos from cameras and smartphones always contain EXIF.
▶How can I remove EXIF data?
Many image editors have an option to strip metadata. On Windows, right-click an image → Properties → Details → Remove Properties. On macOS, use Preview → Export and uncheck metadata.
▶Is GPS data in photos a privacy concern?
Yes. Photos taken with GPS-enabled phones may contain exact location coordinates. Consider removing EXIF data before sharing photos publicly, especially on social media.
