About ROI Calculator
Return on Investment (ROI) measures total gain or loss relative to the amount invested. Enter the amount invested, the final returned amount, and the holding period with its unit; the tool reports total ROI as a percentage, the absolute profit, and the annualized ROI that normalizes the return to a yearly rate.
How to Use
1. Enter Invested (initial cost) and Returned (final value). 2. Enter the Period number and choose its unit: years, months, or days. 3. Click Calculate. 4. Read the three outputs: ROI (total return %, large), Profit (returned − invested, in currency), and Annualized ROI (per-year compound rate).
ROI and Annualization Formulas
Profit = Returned − Invested. Total ROI = ((Returned − Invested) / Invested) × 100. The period is converted to years: months ÷ 12, days ÷ 365, years as-is. Annualized ROI = ((Returned / Invested)^(1 / years) − 1) × 100, i.e. the compound annual growth rate (CAGR). Inputs of invested ≤ 0 or period ≤ 0 are rejected.
