What is an SSL/TLS Certificate?
An SSL/TLS certificate is a digital certificate that authenticates a website's identity and enables encrypted connections. It contains information about the certificate issuer, subject (domain), validity period, public key, and signature. Certificates are issued by Certificate Authorities (CAs) and are essential for HTTPS security.
How to Use This Certificate Parser
Paste your PEM-formatted certificate (starts with -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----) into the text area, or upload a .pem, .crt, or .cer file. Click Parse to extract and display all certificate details including version, serial number, issuer, subject, validity period, public key information, signature algorithm, and SHA-256/SHA-1 fingerprints.
Understanding Certificate Fields
Version: X.509 version (usually v3). Serial Number: Unique identifier assigned by the CA. Issuer: Organization that issued the certificate. Subject: Domain name the certificate protects. Valid From/To: Certificate validity period. Public Key: Cryptographic key for encryption. Fingerprints: Hash values used to uniquely identify the certificate.
