About File Renamer
This tool renames multiple files in bulk and downloads the renamed copies back to your machine, all without uploading anything. You add files by drag-and-drop or file picker, then apply any combination of prefix, suffix, find-and-replace, and numeric sequence, and preview the new names before downloading. File extensions are preserved through every operation.
How to Use
1. Drag files onto the dashed drop zone or click it to open the file picker; multiple files are supported. 2. Fill in any of the rename options: Prefix, Suffix, Find, Replace With, and the Add Numbering toggle (with a starting number). 3. Watch the Preview card: each file shows its original name, an arrow, the computed new name, and its size. 4. Click Rename and Download to trigger a download for each file with its new name; use the trash icon on a row to remove it, or Clear to reset everything.
How Rename Rules Combine
Rules apply to the base name (extension stripped and re-added) in this order: prefix is prepended, suffix is appended, find-and-replace does a global split-join substitution on the base, and finally numbering (if enabled) prepends the sequence number followed by an underscore. For example, with prefix 'trip_', find 'IMG', replace 'photo', numbering from 1, a file 'IMG_001.jpg' at index 2 becomes '3_trip_photo_001.jpg'.
