About Pinyin Converter
This tool converts Simplified Chinese text into Pinyin using a built-in dictionary of common characters and a handful of common two-character words. It supports three output styles (with tone marks, numbered tones, or no tone information) and a customizable separator between syllables.
How to Use
1. Choose the Style from the select: With Tone (e.g. ni hao), With Number, or Without Tone. 2. Type the separator you want between syllables into the Separator field (a single space by default). 3. Paste or type your Chinese text into the Input area. 4. Click Convert to produce Pinyin, then click Copy on the output to copy it.
Dictionary and Style Limits
Conversion is driven by a small hand-curated dictionary of roughly 70 entries covering common single characters (pronouns, verbs, particles, numbers, common nouns) and a few two-character words (today, tomorrow, study, work, life, happy, friend). Any character not in the dictionary passes through unchanged, so general text is only partially transliterated. The three styles control how tone information appears: tone mode emits the bare syllable, number mode emits each reading, and no-tone mode strips digits from the syllable. The Separator is inserted verbatim between every converted or passed-through character.
