About Blood Pressure Calculator
The Blood Pressure Calculator classifies a reading from systolic and diastolic mmHg values into one of six categories — Hypotension, Normal, Elevated, Stage 1 Hypertension, Stage 2 Hypertension, or Stage 3 (Hypertensive Crisis) — using fixed threshold rules. It accepts systolic from 70 to 250 mmHg and diastolic from 40 to 150 mmHg; values outside the plausible range are rejected.
How to Use
1. Enter Systolic pressure (top number, e.g. 120) in the first field. 2. Enter Diastolic pressure (bottom number, e.g. 80) in the second field. 3. Press Check. The result card displays the category name in a color-coded band (blue, green, yellow, orange, red, dark red) with a short description. A reference table at the bottom lists all six bands.
BP Classification Thresholds
The category is chosen in order: Hypotension if systolic < 90 OR diastolic < 60; Normal if systolic < 120 AND diastolic < 80; Elevated if systolic < 130 OR diastolic < 85; Stage 1 Hypertension if systolic < 140 OR diastolic < 90; Stage 2 Hypertension if systolic < 180 OR diastolic < 120; otherwise Stage 3 (Hypertensive Crisis) at ≥180 / ≥120 mmHg. Note the OR logic — a single elevated number is enough to push you into the higher band.
▶Why am I classified as Elevated when only one number is high?
▶What happens if I enter a value outside the allowed range?
▶Is this a medical diagnosis?
▶Is my data sent to a server?
