About Typing Speed Test
A typing test that measures your speed and accuracy against a fixed English sample paragraph. As you type, each character is colored green (correct), red (wrong, with a red background tint), or gray (upcoming), and a caret underline shows your position. The timer starts on your first keystroke and stops when you type the full sample length or click Completed, after which WPM, CPM, accuracy, elapsed time, and error count are displayed.
How to Use
1. Click the input box (or press Start) and begin typing — the first keystroke starts the timer automatically. 2. Type the sample text shown above the input; wrong characters are highlighted red and the live stats (WPM, CPM, accuracy, time, errors) update as you go. 3. Click Completed once you finish the passage, or keep typing until you reach the end of the sample — typing the final character auto-finishes the test. 4. Click Restart (the rotate icon) at any time to clear your input and reset the timer and stats.
How WPM, CPM, and Accuracy Are Computed
WPM uses the standard formula: correct characters divided by 5 (the conventional word length) divided by elapsed minutes, rounded. CPM is correct characters per minute. Accuracy is correct characters divided by total typed characters (including mistakes), shown as a percentage. Errors are the count of characters typed that do not match the sample at that position. Input is truncated to the sample length so you cannot type past the end, and the elapsed minutes value is floored at 1/60 to avoid division-by-zero before the first second elapses.
▶Can I choose a different sample text or language?
▶If I type a wrong character and then the right one, is it counted as an error?
▶Does the test pause the timer if I stop typing?
▶Is my data sent to a server?
