About Recipe Scaler
Recipe Scaler adjusts ingredient quantities when you change the number of servings. Enter original and target serving counts, list each ingredient with quantity, unit, and name, and the tool multiplies every numeric quantity by the ratio target/original, formatting the result with common cooking fractions where they fit closely.
How to Use
1. Enter Original servings and Target servings (both must be positive). 2. For each ingredient row, enter Quantity (number), pick a Unit from the dropdown, and type a Name. 3. Use Add Ingredient for more rows or the trash icon to remove one. 4. Click Scale to show the side-by-side results; click Copy to copy the scaled recipe, or Clear to reset.
Units & Fraction Formatting
Units offered are g, kg, ml, l, tsp, tbsp, cup, oz, lb, pinch, and no unit. Quantities are multiplied by (target / original) and rounded to 2 decimals. If the fractional part is within 0.02 of 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 2/3, or 3/4, the result is rendered as a cooking fraction (e.g. "1 1/2" or "2/3"); whole numbers drop the decimal; otherwise the rounded decimal is shown. Non-numeric quantities are passed through unchanged.
