About UV Index
The UV Index tool maps a numeric UV reading (0–11+) to a five-level exposure label: Low, Moderate, High, Very High, or Extreme. Enter the UV value published by your weather service or smartphone weather app and the tool classifies the risk.
How to Use
1. Type the current UV index number into the input field. 2. Click Check. 3. The level name appears in a large centered label.
UV Risk Bands
Classification thresholds follow the WHO UV index scale: Low = 0–2 (no protection needed), Moderate = 3–5 (sun protection advisable near midday), High = 6–7 (protection essential; reduce midday exposure), Very High = 8–10 (extra protection; avoid direct sun between 11am and 3pm), Extreme = 11+ (unprotected skin burns in minutes; seek shade).
